The collage of footage did not start with a specific message to be delivered however it begun with the intention to expand my method of creating and communicating. Referencing classic Taiwanese films and some personal understanding of composition, I chose the camcorder to create the vintage and ‘forgotten’ effect which is somewhat romantic in context, effort was made on capturing glimpses of overlooked scenery, that is attractive to the eye from the strong aesthetic of the composition. I also captured glimpses of ‘motion’ and people in action with enough ambiguity that one could recreate or re-imagine linking the context with their personal experience, achieving an important purpose of an artwork. The film differentiates itself from what the mass would determine as a film, to a form of art, in a way, through the lack of a clear story line, it’s composition is fully based on a collage of ‘glimpses’ thus why I have decided to include in my exhibition rather than dismissing it from the category.
