In series with painting ‘portrait’ a glimpse of what’s is communicated through the internet. The painting referenced a screenshot taken during a video call. The painting explores alternative approach, and delivery of portraits which are often created with a precise definition of the painting subject and exaggerates their unique features or characteristics, whether through a realistic or impressionistic style of painting, the act of exaggeration exists. By doing the inverse of the method, the portrait creates an abstract, yet honest image of a person since we could never picture a person’s face and features in full detail, furthermore the contrast between ‘others’ and ‘self’ in definition reiterates the concept of honesty in observation. The practice of communication reflects the level of understanding between individuals, through the portrait itself.
