First degree murder
Oil on canvas, 2025

In series with ‘Buh?’, painting serves similar purposes as a form of preservation to a image that is temporary, and an observation to a new form of humor that only belongs to the modern days and a certain group of audiences. I like the humor created by a strong sense of juxtaposition where a joyful image with a mild trace of violence contrasts with the weight of the description. I have added one more personal contrast to the painting, to demonstrate the characteristic of the internet memes where one only take away some parts of the full image or story, which for me it was the boy, seemingly the narrator of the whole act puts his thumbs up and smiling at the camera, in this case he is more significant than the event and its description, completing the whole image.
